Dog Sneezing – Allergies? Worth a Vet Visit?

Sacha’s Diary – October 20, 2016

Go Cubs Go!

Go Cubs Go!

Dear Diary,

So…I’ve been sneezing a lot these last few days. And really, I don’t know why. I don’t feel bad and I seem to have all my energy. I’m eating my dog food, drinking my water, and everybody keeps telling me my poops are good; though I am a good pooper πŸ™‚

But for whatever reason, I’ve been sneezing like a sneeze farm lately. Daddy didn’t seem to be too worried about it. He thinks I might have an allergy or something. It’s been really warm here in Chicago and we haven’t had a frost or anything like that yet. So any kind of dust or pollen that can make you sneeze is still out in the air. Continue reading

Cubs Woo! Cubs Woo! Cubs Woo! – Cubs Up 2-0 in NLDS

Cubs Giants NLDS Game 2 Recap – Sacha’s Diary October 10, 2016

Cubs #FlyTheW Last Night!

Cubs #FlyTheW Last Night!

Dear Diary,

Okay, truth be told I celebrated a little too much after the Cubs victory Saturday night and was too tired yesterday to do my recap. I believe you humans call it being ‘hungover’ or something like that. Well that’s what happened to me. Who knew you could get hungover on my Grandmas Homemade Dog Biscuits but there you go! πŸ™‚

Cubs #FlyTheW Last Night!

Dear Diary,

Wow, that was some game last night amirite?! A real claw biter if I ever saw one! The Cubs now have a 1-0 lead in the NLDS and will take the field against the Giants tonight at Wrigley Field for game 2. Last night, we were all together watching the game at home. But tonight, mommy and daddy are going to the game. Time for me to get out the dog biscuits and watch the Cubs on the HDTV. πŸ™‚

Cubs Playoffs Begin – Time to FlyTheW

Sacha’s Diary, October 7, 2016

#FlyTheW

#FlyTheW

Dear Diary,

I’m so excited today I can hardly stand it!! Tonight, the Cubs open up the NLDS series at home against the San Francisco Giants. I cannot wait to watch the game!

My mommy and daddy live pretty close to Wrigley Field and they have season tickets. Which is good for them but sucks me because I don’t get to go to the games. Ever since that whole billy goat thing happened, the Cubs seem rather reluctant to let animals in the park. It’s okay, I get it. Continue reading

How to Introduce a New Puppy to Your Dog – Especially if They’re Samoyeds!

Sacha’s Diary – September 23, 2016

Dear Diary,

This will be a short blog entry because I’ve got so much to do today. Not sure how you humans do this work stuff all week long! We Samoyeds are known as a working breed, but all I can say to that is TGIF!

Sacha Surfing the Web - His Morning Ritual

Sacha Surfing the Web – His Morning Ritual

Anyway, I was surfing the web today getting my morning news, you know as one does, and I came across this great article talking about the right way to introduce a new pet to an existing pet. There’s a lot of good tips and information in that article which talks about three categories, dog meeting dog (my personal favorite!), cat meeting cat (meh…), cat meeting dog (double meh…).

This brought back fond memories for me because I was once that new dog being introduced into a house with an existing dog, my brother Ramius! Of course, I didn’t know he would was my brother back then. I was just 8 weeks old and out in the big, bad world for the very first time with my new mommy and daddy, new home, and new brother. Ah, the innocence of those halcyon days amirite? Continue reading

Do Dogs Know When You Leave? – Tips to Reduce the Stress

Sacha’s Diary, September 8, 2016

Dear Diary,

This past Saturday, my mommy and daddy left the house with a bunch of suitcases. And not only that, they had a friend of theirs, Ariel, staying over at the house the night before.

Sacha Chewing His Bone

Sacha Chewing His Bone

I know this pattern pretty well, and it always makes me nervous. When this happens, it means my parents are going out of town somewhere on a trip, and they’re not taking me with them. Usually, I go with them whenever we travel somewhere that’s close by, so if I’m not with them, they’re probably far away. This makes me sad πŸ™

You see for me, I never know when they’re coming back. Is it the next day, next week, next month? I have no idea and it stresses me out! I know mommy and daddy are trying to tell me when they’ll be back, but you humans speak some sort of weird language and we Samoyeds never know what you’re saying. You frustrate me. Silly humans!

Anyway, there are some things I’d like to recommend to my readers out there that you can do to make things less stressful for your Samoyed while you’re out of town for a few days. All of these tips are things that work really well for me. Continue reading

Chicago Air & Water Show – Damn it Feels Good to be Dogsta!

Going to the Chicago Air & Water Show – Sacha’s Diary August 22, 2016

Chicago Skyline

Chicago Skyline

Dear Diary,

Yesterday, my parents walked me down to Lake Michigan to watch the Chicago Air & Water Show. This was the 58th show which happens annually every August in Chicago over a weekend. It’s a pretty cool event and it’s free! Which doesn’t matter much to me, since I don’t pay the bills. But I know my Mommy and Daddy appreciate it! πŸ™‚

My parents tend to go most years but this was the first time I got to go too. Wow, was it loud! Lots of cool military aircraft flying around the city and the skyline. This year’s performers included the U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights and the U.S. Navy Parachute Team Leap Frogs. Continue reading

Going to the Dog Park – Hit Em With The Hein!!

Sacha’s Diary August 11, 2016

Me sniffing around the dog park today.

Dear Diary,

My daddy took me to the dog park this morning. Woo-hoo! I love going to to dog park! I live in the city of Chicago and there’s not really much of a back yard for me to run around in at home. And being a Samoyed, you NEVER want me to be on a city street, or really any street, without a leash. That’s a big no-no!

So, it’s not that often that I get to go to a place in the city where I can run around off leash, completely free. But today was one of those days, and lucky me, there were lots of other dogs around for me to play with.

Livin’ the dream humans! I’m living the dream! Continue reading

Best Dental Treats for Dogs – Which Should You Get?

I Love Me Some Dental Chews and Treats! – Sacha’s Diary August 4, 2016

Dear Diary,

Usually, my Daddy does the product reviews around here, but I asked him if I could do this one because I love dental bones! Other than the homemade dog treats my Grandma Carole makes for me, these are my favorite treats in general! Dental or not! But, I like lots of treats so that may not be saying much πŸ˜‰

And let me tell you, I hate to admit it, but I can be kind of a stinker if I don’t get my dental treats when I want them. You see, I know when Mommy and Daddy are getting ready in the morning, they’re a little harried. The last thing they want is to hear me barking and causing a ruckus. So what do I do? I stand by the closet where they keep the dental treats and bark until they give me one. Continue reading

How to Microchip a Dog – And Why You Should!

To Microchip or not to Microchip – That is the Question – Sacha’s Diary

Hope You Enjoy My Diary Entry About Microchips!

Hope You Enjoy My Diary Entry About Microchips!

Dear Diary,

The other day I saw a stray dog wandering around the neighborhood and I got to worrying about him. The poor thing! How did that happen? Is he lost? Do his parents know he’s missing? Was he abandoned (sure hope not!). He was moving too fast so unfortunately we couldn’t catch up to him, but we found out later he got returned to his home. Yay!

Though that story had a happy ending I got to wondering how I would feel if I somehow got separated from my family. My Daddy just wrote a blog a couple of weeks ago about a missing Samoyed named Mya who had her owners worried to death about her! But, Mya was found! Another happy ending! Woo-hoo! Still…reading about Mya and seeing this stray dog in the neighborhood got me a little worried.

But one thing that gives both my parents and me peace of mind is the fact that I have a microchip implanted in me. Continue reading
