I Love City Living!
Today, daddy let me surf the internet and I saw this fun article today in New York Magazine that examines the best and worst cities to live in if you’re a dog.
This got me thinking. I’ve only ever lived in Chicago, and I love it, especially the winters! According to the article, there’s a Golden Retriever named Sporty here in Chicago who actually manages to walk himself. How crazy is that?!
I’m not allowed to walk myself, that sounds pretty dangerous. I wonder how Sporty does it? But check out those cool shades he’s wearing! I’m thinking maybe I should check out Hollywood one day! Don’t you think? I think I’d be the coolest Samoyed in LA. Amiright?
Although if you do live in a warm climate, be sure to read my daddy’s blog post about ways to keep your dogs cool in the heat. You can also check out his page of fun summer shopping ideas for your Samoyed or any other kind of dog.
Okay, now that the bills are paid. What do you guys think, tell me your favorite dog cities!
Until next time Mr. Diary!

This is How We Look When We Get Grandma Treats! – Woo-hoo!
has been making these treats for my siblings and me for almost 20 years. And we love them! They’re great treats for Samoyeds like me!
I know most of you are familiar with my diary entries, but I love these doggie treats so much that I asked my grandma Carole if I could share her famous homemade “Grandma Treat” recipe instead of doing a diary entry. And she said yes! Dog biscuit recipes make me happy. 🙂 The best thing about this particular recipe is that this one includes bacon grease. And you know how I feel about that. BACON!!! Woo-hoo!!
Here are the steps for this quick, easy, and barkilicious recipe! Continue reading
How I Spent My Summer Vacation – Sacha’s Diary July 11, 2016
Time for me to Make the Diary!
Haha! See what I did there? I put “dogs that are good kids” in the blog post title. Now what I obviously meant to say is dogs that are good with kids. We Samoyeds are cute, but we’re not too good with the grammar sometimes. And I know I should change the title of the post, but it’s kinda funny so I think I’ll just leave it 🙂
Back to you Mr. Diary. This last week, I got to spend time up at our cottage in Wisconsin. Let me tell you, all of this blogging is tiring and I really needed the break! You know what that’s like, amiright friends?!
Well a week or so up on the lake was just what I needed to recharge my batteries. I love just hanging out our porch, enjoying the nice summer breezes, maybe even having a cold beverage or two. I don’t know why but my the water just seems to taste better out of my bowl up there. Continue reading
Grooming Day – Before Picture – I Can Tell Something is Up
Have you ever had one of those days when you woke up and could just tell that something was going on? Yep, me too. Today was like that!
It’s been really warm here lately and my daddy has been doing a lot of blogging about ways to keep your dog cool in the summertime. He even put together this list of cool things you can get in the summertime for your Samoyed (like me! 🙂 or other large breed of dog. The man has been obsessed lately 😉
So I could tell something was up right? In the hot weather especially, lots of people start to think about how to groom a dog. Plus, my fur is starting to get a little thick and shaggy and well, putting two and two together, I get…bacon! (Being a Samoyed I’m not always so good at math. And besides that…BACON!). Sacha’s Diary – June 16, 2016
I was reading this article today about how you need to give your new dog some time to adjust when you introduce him into your home. And it got me thinking about my own experience and what is was like when I first arrived at my new home. I guess I didn’t realize that how to introduce a new dog to your dog was a huge challenge for my parents and everyone else involved.
It’s a day I’ll never forget! My mommy and daddy picked me up from the Samoyed breeder back in the Fall of 2011 when I was about 8 weeks old. So much of that day is a blur to me to be honest. I was such a little guy and my brain was just developing don’t forget. But I do remember how the day started with me being in a pen with a whole bunch of other puppies my age. That was like most days back then, me and my friends we would just play and poop, and play poop, all day long! Then the next thing I knew, I was with these two strangers who would become my parents, but I didn’t know that, or them, at the time. It was a little unnerving to be honest.
We got in their SUV (my first car ride!) and I remember my daddy holding me in this arms while my mommy drove. It was a long ride, and I remember being both excited and a bit anxious at the same time. Who are these people? Where are am I going? What about all of my friends back at the pen? Continue reading
So I was surfing the web a little bit today, not easy to do with big furry paws I can assure you, and I saw this really cool thing from the state of Ohio. The good people of Ohio just passed a law that allows you to break car windows to save a dog or a child who might be in danger. Traveling with a dog in the car just got a lot safer for all of my furry friends in the Buckeye state.
I’ve been talking lately about the importance of keeping your dog cool in the summertime. This is especially true for big, hairy (and handsome) Samoyeds like me. 🙂 Now the state of Ohio has made it legal to rescue a child or dog in a hot car as long as every door is locked and the police have been called. You can read the entire article describing the new law by CLICKING HERE.
Me in my Blackhawks Hat
Wow, what a week right?! It’s Friday afternoon, and I’m about ready for happy hour! There’s a 2 for 1 special on dog biscuits at my favorite watering hole until 6pm, so this one will be quick. But before I head out, I wanted to share with you some interesting facts about Samoyeds. Well…one interesting fact at least (Happy hour – Woo-hoo!).
Did you know that Samoyeds, like me of course :-), are most closely related to the primitive dog? It’s true! There’s no wolf DNA in me. None! Not a lick! Which is sort of ironic, because I kinda look look a little like a wolf right?
Here let me show you. That’s me over there up top on the right (but of course you know that already don’t you?).
And then look at this guy below me. That’s a white wolf! Amiright? Kinda similar, and yet supposedly we share no DNA whatsoever.
Hmmmm….Are you sure that’s not you Cousin Willie? Guess not…
Until next time Mr. Diary!
P.S. Happy hour!!
Me in my Blackhawks Hat
It was a beautiful day here in Chicago and I took a nice walk in the afternoon, but not with my parents. Sometimes, this nice guy named Jack comes to the house when I’m here all alone during the day, puts my PetSafe harness on me, and takes me out for a walk.
It’s kinda strange, my friend Tom used to walk me a lot, but he moved to California at the beginning of the year and I haven’t seen him since. I miss Tom sometimes 🙁
So I’m just kind of getting to know Jack, and I think I like him. My parents say he’s the “dog walker” which is what they used to call Tom too. And I guess that makes me the dog! 🙂
I have to be honest, sometimes I can be a challenge to walk because I GET SO EXCITED! There are other dogs out there people! I just want to play! Continue reading
Today I want to talk about size. People always say, ‘size matters,’ but I don’t know what that means. I think the question they’re probably asking though is, ‘How big is a Samoyed?’ Right? Yeah…that’s probably what they mean…
I guess I’m Pretty Big
My Sacha’s Diary Photo
When I go for a walk down the street people seem to think I’m really big. Remember yesterday when I talked about humans thinking I’m a polar bear?
There aren’t a whole lot of other Sammie’s in the ‘hood so I guess I don’t know for sure if I’m big or not. But no worries, Daddy showed me the Google Machine so I did some research.
If you do a search online, it seems you’ll find that a male Samoyed, like me, is about 50-70lbs. And a female, like my sissie Zoya weighs about 40 – 55lbs. I don’t know where they get that from, and maybe they’re right. All I know is that I’m about 90lbs. And Zoya, and my brother Ramius, were also about 90lbs throughout their life. You know, give or take a few pounds here and there. The holidays are always tough right? Continue reading
Sacha’s Diary – The Smiling Samoyed. Me Wearing Blackhawks Hat
Sorry I took a few days off from writing. This typing stuff is hard on my paws! I think they call it Barkal Tunnel Syndrome or something.
Anyway, today is Monday and Monday’s always give me the blahs. I don’t know why, it’s not like I go to work or anything. Maybe it’s cause Mommy & Daddy have to leave the house early though. That’s probably it.
It was a pretty quiet weekend. I went for a few walks with my parents, but otherwise I kind of hung around the house. My parents went to the Cubs game on Saturday (they love going to Cubs games!) and then on Sunday, I think they went to a pool. They always kiss me a lot before they leave and I think they’d like to take me. But I guess I’m not allowed 🙁 Oh well. It’s tough to be a dog sometimes. Continue reading
