Today I want to talk about size. People always say, ‘size matters,’ but I don’t know what that means. I think the question they’re probably asking though is, ‘How big is a Samoyed?’ Right? Yeah…that’s probably what they mean…
I guess I’m Pretty Big
When I go for a walk down the street people seem to think I’m really big. Remember yesterday when I talked about humans thinking I’m a polar bear?
There aren’t a whole lot of other Sammie’s in the ‘hood so I guess I don’t know for sure if I’m big or not. But no worries, Daddy showed me the Google Machine so I did some research.
If you do a search online, it seems you’ll find that a male Samoyed, like me, is about 50-70lbs. And a female, like my sissie Zoya weighs about 40 – 55lbs. I don’t know where they get that from, and maybe they’re right. All I know is that I’m about 90lbs. And Zoya, and my brother Ramius, were also about 90lbs throughout their life. You know, give or take a few pounds here and there. The holidays are always tough right?
I think I’m at a good weight though. Here’s a picture of me from the other day when Mommy & Daddy took me for a walk to Montrose Harbor by Lake Michigan.
See! Pretty svelte looking really! And I’m heathy too. Whenever Mommy and Daddy take me to the Vet, this guy in a white coat tells them I’m a healthy weight for my age.
Now, I’ll admit, sometimes I think I’m a lap dog so every now and then I’ll jump up and sit on somebody’s lap. But that’s just because I like attention. And pets! Pets are good too. So yeah, maybe being 90lbs or so is a bit much if I’m sitting right on you. But you won’t mind, I promise! Just look at how cute I am! And if you forget for some reason, don’t worry, I’ll remind you. 😉
I mentioned my brother and sister, and I wanted to share their pictures with you too. I never got to meet my sissie Zoya. And my brother Ramius passed away in January. I miss him a lot, but that’ll be a subject for another diary entry.
I’ve got a pretty good looking family don’t you think?! So what do you guys think? Am I a good size? Leave me a comment below and let’s bark about it.
