Sacha’s Diary – November 6, 2016
Wow it sure has been an exciting few days! First my beloved Chicago Cubs won their first World Series in 108 years. And though I’m only 6 years old (or 42 in human years) it really meant a lot to me. Especially since I know it meant a lot to my mommy and daddy. They even took me down to Wrigley Field on Friday to see the parade. I’m pretty sure I was the only Samoyed there that day. I got lots of pets and I like that!
And as much fun as that was, things really got crazy Saturday. My parents took me to their SUV and we’ve been driving ever since! Don’t get me wrong I love a good car ride and everything. I mean, don’t all of us dogs? But usually it’s just a few hours. This has been going on for days!
But even before I got in the car, I could tell something was going on. There have been lots and lots of boxes and suitcases around the house lately. That struck me as very unusual. Frankly, I get nervous over stuff like that because it often means one or both of my parents are going on a trip. And that I do not like.
But this felt different. For one thing, this preparation went on much longer than it does compared to one of their usual trips. And I also know they really were trying very hard to tell me what’s going on to keep me calm. Silly humans. God love ’em but they speak their weird language and I can never know what they’re saying.
But now I finally figured it out. We’re moving to LA!! Well maybe not moving but we’re all
going to be spending the next several months together in Hollywood. I better get ready for my closeup! I’m going to be an LA puppy!
Last night we stayed at a Red Rood Inn in someplace called Tulsa, OK. And as I type this we’re driving through Texas on our way to Gallup, NM. Wow what a big world this is! Who knew there were so many different places to see!
Tips For Traveling with Your Dog on a Road Trip
I get a little car sick so I’m going to keep it short for now. But I do want to show you how smart my parents packed up the car for me. They loaded up all of their stupid stuff in the very back and on the roof. And they left me lots of room to spread out and lay down. They even put out my food and water bowls for me. Very considerate of them don’t you think?!
Another thing that is very important to do is make sure you make plenty of stops and walk around. This is good for both of us. You’ll want to stretch your two legs and for me my four. Plus, I have to go potty outside so make sure every few hours or so I get that chance. I get a little grumpy when I don’t get to poop. You know the feeling amirite?
And finally when you get to the room I know you’ll probably be tired and hungry. But try to eat with your pooch in the room. Fortunately many motels are dog friendly like Red Roof Inn where pets always stay for free. Often we can’t be left alone in the room according to the motel rules so our pet parents should be with us anyway. But more importantly, remember travel is very stressful on us pooches too! So please stay with your fur baby so they feel more comfortable. That’s what my mommy and daddy do!
Okay that’s about all for now. Tomorrow we are stopping at someplace called the Grand Canyon. Sounds exciting!
Until next time Mr. Diary!
